As a national key university of “Double First Rank University” project, it is funded by the Henan Provincial Government and the State Ministry of Education, Zhengzhou University was founded through the merger of three universities: former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology and Henan Medical University. Zhengzhou University has an abundance of resources. The University now has four main campuses occupying an area of 1070 acres, of which the New Campus comprises 799 acres.There are 46 schools and departments, and 9 affiliated hospitals in Zhengzhou University, offering 110 undergraduate programs, 125 doctor programs in 30 first level disciplines, 256 master programs in 55 first level disciplines, and 23 post-doctoral research stations. The University has a staff of 6,000; among them, 4000 are academic members, 29 are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science and Engineering, 750 professors, and 1,700 associate professors. Located in Zhengzhou Henan Province, Henan University of Technology (HAUT) ranks as one of the four high-quality industry-based universities in China, is the first university which won the first prize of national scientific and technological progress in Henan Province and is among the first group of universities being selected in the 2011 Project of Collaborative Innovation. HAUT was founded in 1956; in 2010, Henan Provincial Government and State Grain Bureau have signed the agreement to co-sponsor the university. Henan produces over 2780 kinds of Chinese herbs, and takes the third place in terms of variety and quantity.
