The Confucius Temple is located in Gongyuan Street on the north bank of Qinhuai River in Qinhuai District, Nanjing. It is located in the core area of Qinhuai scenery belt of Confucius Temple. It is China’s first national high school and one of China’s four major Confucian templee. It is not only the cultural and educational center of Nanjing during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also the highest cultural and educational building group in southeast China.


It is a large-scale ancient building complex, mainly composed of the Confucian Temple, the Xuegong, and the Gongyuan, occupying a huge area. It is known as the famous Qinhuai and became a characteristic scenic area of the ancient capital Nanjing. It is the largest traditional ancient street market in China. The four major downtowns in China are also China's famous open national tourist attractions and international tourist attractions.




Every year from the first day to the eighteenth day of Spring Festival, the Confucius Temple holds a lantern festival. The Confucius Temple Lantern Festival is a characteristic folk cultural activity spread in Nanjing area, also known as the "Jinling Lantern Festival", which is mainly held from the Spring Festival to the Lantern Festival every year. The Confucius Temple Lantern Festival has a long history. According to historical records, as early as the Southern Dynasties, Nanjing had the custom of holding traditional Lantern Festival Lantern Festival. Its grand occasion can be called the highest in the country. It is an important folk cultural activity for people to inherit folk culture. For a long time, it has become an important part of the Qinhuai culture and has a unique cultural connotation.
